He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Nelson and Edna Nelson (Hansen); his wife Betty Kirkhart Gentry; and his siblings, Doris Hoag (Dean), Clarice Artzer (Joe) and Tom Nelson.
He is survived by: his former spouse Herma Behrens; his sons, William David Nelson (Mary), Robert Glenn Nelson (Penny) and Roger Allen Nelson (Pam); his close friend Mary Lindsey; his daughter Rebecca Nelson Behrens; his grandchildren, Scott Torruella, Danielle Staiert, Travis (Brea), Shawn (Haalie), Glenn (Belinda), Brett (Jessica), Kurtis (Elise), Jeffrey, Adrea, Erin and Allison Nelson; and also Allan Kirkhart. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
