He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Carl Schroder and Florene Lilly Schroder (Lantz); and his brother Steven Rodney. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Schroder; his sister Norma Schroder; and his children, Mark Schroder (Cindy), Janis Epperson and Marjorie Schroder. He is also survived by six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Food Bank of Iowa in Allen's memory.
