He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Balzer and Gertrude Balzer (Hull); his wife Kay; his brother Ronald; his son-in-law Jim Goudie; his grandson Zachary Balzer; and his sisters, Helen Miller, Mabel Peterson and Phyllis Breuer.
He is survived by: his children, Julie Goudie (Lon Newton) and Randy Balzer (Kathy) of West Burlington; his grandchildren, Michael Goudie (Natalie), Ashley Mitchell (Charles) and Jennifer Hoenig (Brad); his stepgrandchildren, Dan, Teresa, Larry, Rich and Joe; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Grace, Lillian, Gavin, Elena, Ceylon, Alex, Emilia, Haven and Charli; his great great grandchild Ciel; and his sister Donna Hightower of Salem. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established for West Burlington United Methodist Church.
