He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Barton and Adra Harrison Shipley; and his siblings, Larry, Johnny, Carolyn and Nancy.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Shipley of West Burlington; his sons, Dan Shipley (Dee) of Burlington, Doug Shipley (Cheryl) of West Burlington and Wade Shipley (Laura) of West Burlington; his grandchildren, Tyler, Anna Kelzer (Austin), Emma, Luke, Austin and Samantha; his siblings, Tom Shipley (Elaine) of Des Moines, Jim Shipley of West Burlington, Lora Parks of Macomb, Judy Coyle (Doug) of Middletown, Velma Johnson (George) of Burlington and Rhonda Miller (Mike) of West Burlington; his sister-in-law Sally Hand; and his friend Dick Garnjobst. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
