He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Hamling and Evelyn Hamling; and his son Joe Hamling. He is survived by: his wife Inge Hamling; his siblings, David Hamling (Karen), Marcy Noah (Terry) and Karen Bazar (Ed); and his children, Mary Field, Patti Wayne (Mark), Jeff Hamling (Debbie) and Scott Hamling (Allison). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
