He was predeceased by: his brother Ed Ascher (Beth) of Wellsburg; his parents-in-law, Henry and Anna Werkman; and his siblings-in-law, John Ringena, George Saathoff, Gordon Akers, Curt Meester, Sylvian Meester and Marjorie Meester.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Faye Werkman; his children, Sara Ascher McMartin (Jason) of Grundy Center, IA and Michael James Ascher (Stacy) of Parkersburg, IA.; his grandchildren, Katie Lewis (Jordan), Josie McMartin (Jacqueline), Payton McMartin, Savannah and Rylan Ascher; his great grandchildren, Eliana and Mia Rose; his sisters, Thelma Ringena of Steamboat Rock and Annabelle Schriever (Lloyd) of Ackley; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Ascher, Lanette Saathoff, Wanda Akers, Arlene Haupt (Melvin) and Lois Meester.
