He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Caldwell and Margaret Caldwell (Knowles); his sister Jenny Peterson; and his nephew Mark Veldey. He is survived by: his son Steve Fugate (Wende) of Kalona; his grandchildren, Maizy and Zeus Fugate of Iowa City; his sisters, Mary Veldey of La Crosse and Patty Dow of California; and his niece Jane Veldey.
