He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Wells and Mildred Wells (LaMee); and his siblings, Francis Wells (Bud), Layton Wells, Arlen Wells, Patricia Hilpipre, Phyllis Barker, Sandra Kunz and Rosemary.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Egger; his children, Lisa Ely (David) of Webster City, IA and Jason Wells of Kansas City; his grandchildren, Jesse Ely (Emily) of Webster City and Nathan Ely of Webster City; his siblings, Joyce Odegaard, Jerry Wells (Carol) and Jeanne Williams; and his brother-in-law Dennis Egger (Carol).
