Phianna Unternahrer Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phianna Unternahrer of Wayland, Iowa, who passed away on February 11, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, David Messenger and Agnes Messenger (Van Winkle); and her siblings, Charles, Donald Messenger and Betty Reighard.

She is survived by: her husband John Unternahrer; her children, John David Unternahrer (Shannon) of Wayland and Melodie Winkler (Glen) of Corning; her grandchildren, Marie Swalin (Matt) of Cedar Falls, Michael Unternahrer (Sara) of Washington, Tony Unternahrer of Florida, Adrian Unternahrer of Wayland, Braxton Unternahrer of Wayland, Jacob Winkler (Kristina) of Creston, Joshua Winkler (Jasmine) of Corning, Melissa Perrin (Reggie) of Corning and Grayson Winkler of Corning; her great grandchildren, Maylee Swalin, Madisyn Swalin, Mason Swalin, Berklee Winkler, Jade Winkler, Kolson Winkler, Jameson Winkler, Jakob Winkler, Becca Perrin and Walker Perrin; her siblings, David Messenger of Brighton, Margret Volkman (John) of Pennsylvania and Shirley Fish of Kansas; and her siblings-in-law, Sherri Messenger of Indiana, Julie Messenger of Keota, Martha Marsh (Ron) of Wayland, Daniel Unternahrer of Indiana and Clarence Unternahrer of Ainsworth.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bethel Church (3185 Wayland Rd, Wayland, IA 52654). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
