He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren E. Slagel and Vernelda Slagel (Widmer); his brothers, Kevin and Eric; his nephew Ryan Scarff; and his father-in-law Norman Boshart.
He is survived by: his wife Veronica Boshart of Wayland, IA; his children, Matt Slagel (Jen) of Washington, IA and Andrea Larson (Drew) of Waunakee, WI; his grandchildren, Gavin, Corinne Slagel, Paige and Sam Larson; his sister Wendy Scarff (Ron) of Wayland, IA; his mother-in-law Ermadine Boshart of Wayland, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Karla Roth (Lamar) of Hesston, KS, Merlin Boshart (Annie) of Kalona, IA and David Boshart (Shana) of Elkhart, IN..
A memorial fund has been established for Wayland Mennonite Church and White River Cheyenne Mennonite Church.
