He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerd G. Behrens and Grace E. Behrens (Leners); his wife Eileen Ardath Miehe of Paul's Lutheran Church; his daughter Jean Turner; his brother Gerald; and his sister-in-law Joyce.

He is survived by: his children, Linda Kenny (Steve) of Anamosa, Mark Behrens (Leah) of Council Bluffs and Susan Hunter (Chad) of Keller, Texas; his grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Nicholas, Rachel, Alexander, Samuel, Austin and Emma; and his son-in-law Robert Turner. He is also survived by three nephews.
