She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Schmadeke and Erma Schmadeke (Fick); her former husband Jack D. Shultz; her siblings, Arlene Winkey and Harlan Schmadeke; her siblings-in-law, Ray Shaffer, Larry Winkey and Cindy Schmadeke; and her stepson David Shipp.
She is survived by: her husband James Shipp of Shell Rock; her children, Paulette Shultz of Phoenix, Gene Shultz (Patti) of Cedar Falls and Daniel Shultz (Dixie Chapman-Shultz) of Ramsey; her stepson Rocky Shipp (Darlene) of Waverly; her grandchildren, Travis Shultz (Erin), Ryan Shultz, Jon Queen (Alicia), Gina Brandenburg (Denny), Alyssa Shultz, Lauren McCarroll (Connor) and Jared Shultz; her siblings, Marjorie Shaffer of Cedar Falls, Barbara Bartell (Jerry) of Herman, Dennis Schmadeke (Brenda) of Cedar Falls and Marvin Schmadeke of Clarksville; and her sisters-in-law, Beverly Schmadeke and Annette Shultz. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed toward the Bartels Chaplaincy Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
