She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Droste and Marion Droste (Lizer); her husband Elmer Hertel; her daughter Janet Hertel Felberg; and her siblings, Edward Droste and Margaret Braulick.
She is survived by: her children, Gary Hertel (Nancy) of Corvallis, OR and Diane Hertel Thomason of Coralville, IA.; her grandchildren, Kerry Hertel Boysen (Doug) and Andrew Hertel of Galesburg, IL; her great grandchildren, Clare and Benjamin Boysen of Corvallis, OR.; her sister-in-law Phyllis Droste (Ed); her son-in-law Craig Felberg (Janet Hertel); and her grandchildren-in-law, Paul Felberg (Rafael) and Sara Granger (Tom). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Paul's school endowment, Wartburg College Department of Music or Bartels Retirement Center.
