He was predeceased by: his parents, Will B. Lahr and Ethel Lahr (Hodgson); his wife Kay Joan Brownson; his son-in-law Nick Ruppert; and his sisters, Joyce Spatz, Donna Mae Klamm and Betty Marie Lahr.

He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Ruppert of Cresco, David Lahr (Sandy) of Waverly, Russ Lahr (Lynn) of Waverly, Dan Lahr (Penny) of Mechanicsville and Sue Lahr of Waverly. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
