He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Urell and Ethel Urell (Drew); his son Tom Urell; his siblings, Judy Sorum and John Urell; and his siblings-in-law, Lela Urell, Joann Schwartzhoff, Ralph Brandt, Donnie Drew, Rodney "Occo" Fink and James Schwartzhoff.
He is survived by: his wife Kate Urell of Waukon; his children, Dale Urell (Kelly) of Waukon, Ed Urell (Denise) of Waukon, Linda Ryan (Dan) of Waukon, Perry Fahey of Waukon, Darrell Fahey of Waukon, Eileen Wood (Duane "Woody") of Waukon, Maureen Fahey (Andy Schlitter) of Waukon and Nancy Fahey of Cedar Rapids, IA; his grandchildren, Ian Urell (Allison), Devin (Sarah Ryan), Claire (Cassey Urell) and Megan (Meika Fahey); his sisters, Mary Brandt of Atkins, IA and Sarah Drew of Cedar Rapids; and his siblings-in-law, Howard Sorum of Cedar Rapids, Mary Fink of Waukon, Jean Gavin (John) of Harpers Ferry, IA, Jim Waters (Dorothy) of New Albin, Harold Waters (Carol) of New Albin, Tom Waters (Mary Jo Nordheim) of Waukon and Ray Waters (Jess Schock-McCallson) of Brownsville, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
