It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maggie Welch (Waukon, Iowa), born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, who passed away on June 2, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Bakewell and Margaret "Peggy" Bakewell (O'Neill); her husband Bob; her brothers, James, Robert and David Bakewell; her sister-in-law Virginia Bakewell; and her parents-in-law, Patrick and Clara Welch.
She is survived by: her children, Patty Valenti, Becky Lentz (Tom), Suzy Leiran, Connie Welch, Jim Welch, Janet Adam (Mike), Jeff Welch, Meg Carlson (Grant), Mike Welch and Randy Welch (Ashley); her grandchildren, Katie Ward (Daniel), Matthew Valenti, Patrick, Eric Lentz (Tess), Jared, Justin, Jason, Josh Adam, Maggie, Claire, Jack Carlson, Ruby, Lucy Welch, Sophia, Francis and William Welch; her great grandchild Maria Ward; and her sister-in-law Ruth Bakewell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Veterans Memorial Hospital in memory of Maggie and cards/condolences may be mailed to Suzy Leiran at 2054 Lycurgus Road, Lansing, IA 52151.
