He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Gavin and Mary Ann Gavin (Schulte Tierney); his brother-in-law Arlyn Pladsen; his nephews, Jeff Berns and Michael Tierney; his great-niece Charlie Belle Elmer; and his pet Shorty.
He is survived by: his wife Chris Harris of Waukon; his children, Shea Gavin (Paige) of Waukon, Joe Gavin of Shell Rock, IA and Alyssa Gavin (Jared Klingeman) of Waukon; his grandchildren, Harley, Francis and Dorothy Gavin; his siblings, Tess Pladsen of Waukon, Muggs Berns (Francis) of Waukon, Pat Tierney (Cindy) of La Crosse, WI, Kate Tooke (Jeff) of La Crosse, WI, Tom Tierney (Coni) of Waukon and Sue Bennett of Waukon; and his pets, Pixie and Shadow. He is also survived by sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law.
