He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Howard and Edith Howard (Worchel); his siblings, Roy, Chuck and Deb Yohe; his nephew Mark Howard; his siblings-in-law, Cheryl Howard, David Tschappat and Mark Hager; and his parents-in-law, Warren and Rose Barker.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Barker of Waukon; his children, James, Jr. (Stephanie) of Cape Coral, FL, Sheila Panos (Scott) of Waukon, Joe (Nicole) of Waukon, Paul of Davenport, IA and Luke of Waukon; and also Kelly. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
