He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Byrnes and Patricia Byrnes (Blake); his sister Mary Lou Poli; and his siblings-in-law, Armand Poli, Leo Peterson, Irvin Tieskotter, Jake Dillman, Bob Hanson, Marjorie Tieskotter, Eunice Dillman, Della Peterson and Arlene Hanson.
He is survived by: his wife Franny of Waukon; his daughters, Annette Haas (Tom) of Iowa City, Jenette Schulte (Keith) of Dorchester and Dawn Blocker (Don) of Waukon; his grandchildren, Brooke Haas (Ryan Teague), Beth Rotter (Tom), Matthew Haas (Jillian), Allisson Kouba, Ashley Kozfkay, Erin Rixen (Jordan), Adam Schulte and Evan Schulte (Dani); and his siblings, Frank Byrnes (Mary), Charlie Byrnes (Ann) and Jean Ann Wiedner (Don). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
