She was predeceased by: her father Keith Simmer. She is survived by: her mother Shirlie Simmer; her sister Sheryl Chew; her significant other John O'Donnell; her children, Hannah and Elliot; and also, David, Joseph and Laura. She is also survived by in-laws nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations are made to the John Stoddard Cancer Center, Des Moines.
