It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jean Lois Galvin (Waukee, Iowa), born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on April 20, 2024, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the sacred silence of farewell, Jean Lois is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. She was predeceased by: her father Byron Smith; and her siblings, Charlotte and Jack. She is survived by: her mother Mabel Smith; her children, Ellen Plath (Rodney) of Missouri Valley and Tim Galvin (Jennifer) of Des Moines; her granddaughters, Allison, Kiana and Meredith; her stepgrandsons, Kevin and Tosh; and her brother-in-law George Galvin of Burlington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and 17 great-grandchildren.
