She was predeceased by: her former husband Melvin "Mel" Dessenko; and her son Jerald Wayne. She is survived by: her husband Melvin John; her daughters, LaRue Maddox (Bob) of Des Moines, Melva O'Donnell (Randall) of Kansas City and Joyce Venard (Steven) of Adel; her grandchildren, Amanda Cregeen (Jeff), Darby, Taryn O'Donnell, Nathan (Katy), Kevin Venard (Hayley), Cullen, Evan Powers and Connor O'Donnell; and her great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Anthony Cregeen, Jason (JJ), Jayne, Levi Venard, Gabe, Sydney Schuster, Grey and Molly Marie Venard. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family welcomes donations to a charitable or personal cause in Helen's name to honor her memory.
