He is survived by: his children, Daryl "Pete" (Sue) of Clive and Patty of Tampa; his grandchildren, John Dilks (Kim) of Trinity, Carrie Dilks of Waukee and Christy Dilks (Kyle) of Altoona; and his great grandchildren, Ella Dilks and Owen Dilks.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League.
