It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Duane Balk of Waucoma, Iowa, who passed away on January 19, 2024, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Nick Balk and Dolly Balk (Bradley); his daughter Karla Faber Niebes; his son-in-law Jim Faber; his in-laws, Will and Minnie Kuehner; his siblings, Harry Balk, Robert Balk (Elaine) and Arlene Spangler (Stu); and his sister-in-law Kaye Kuehner.
He is survived by: his wife Wilma Kuehner; his children, Janet Schmitt (Mike) of Waucoma, Kenny Balk (Emi) of Marion, IA and Greg Balk (Angela) of Waucoma; his grandchildren, Danielle Fox (Matt), Eric Sloan (Maggie), Sara Haught (Justin), Adam Schmitt (Jill), Ben Schmitt (Kalyn), Jordan Balk, Austin Balk (Madison), Megan Balk, Kennedy Chapman (Aaron), Olivia Chapman, Kennedy Balk (Blake) and Keegan Balk; his sisters, Dorothy Winter (Danny) of West Union and Mary Hackman (Gerry) of Ft. Atkinson; his siblings-in-law, Pat Balk of Charles City, Mary Reissner (Tom) of Spencer, Don Kuehner (Adrian) of Chicago, Duane Kuehner of Decorah, Marv Kuehner (Sandi) of Marshalltown and Al Kuehner (Cathy) of Bloomington, MN; and his son-in-law Larry Niebes of Horton, IA.. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
