He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Balk and Evelyn Balk (Bouska); his brother Joe; his grandson Phillip Hayek; and his brothers-in-law, Gene Smith and Ernest Schmitt.
He is survived by: his wife Neoma Miller of Waucoma; his children, Leo Balk (Mary) of Waucoma, Nancy Baker of Waterloo, IA, Marlin Balk (Barb) of Lacona, IA and Gerald Balk (Sarah) of Waucoma; and his siblings, Marveline Schmitt of Fort Atkinson, IA, Melvin and Marvin Balk of Lawler, IA. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
