He was predeceased by: his parents, Cletus Kelly and Mildred Kelly (Busness); his sister Helen Ann Kelly; and his sister-in-law Elaine Kelly. He is survived by: his former wife Mary Ann Troendle; his children, Chad Kelly (Kari) of Waukon, Darcy Dibert (Tracy) of Lansing, Jared Kelly (Natalie) of Ossian, J. C. and April Gile (Brock) of Owatonna, MN; his grandchildren, Reed, Cade Kelly, Annabelle, Kristina, Dalton, Evelynn Dibert, Nicole Regan (Brody), Kenzi Jones (Cavin Baumler), Brody, Kylie Kohrs, Lauren, Cole, Grace Kelly, Hailee Bell and Sean Bieber; his great grandchildren, Brielle, Nora Regan, RaeLynn and Alaina Deegan; and his siblings, Rodney Kelly (Shaina) of Mt. Vernon, IA, Linda Hermanson (Richard) of Waterville, Colleen Ulrich (Richard) of Allison, IA and Wayne Kelly (Barb Winter) of Waterville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
