He was predeceased by: his father Donald G. Kern; his stepparents, Wayne Schrader and Linda Kern; his nephews, Ryan Allen and Matt House; and his niece Jennifer Logan.
He is survived by: his mother Joanne Booten Kern; his wife Mary of Waterloo; his children, Stephanie Gray (Chris Coose) of Osage Beach, MO, Annette Kern of Waterloo, Nick Kern of Waterloo, Wyatt Kern, Jr. (Sarah) of Cedar Falls, Levi Kern of Waterloo and Lucas Kern of Kansas City; his grandchildren, Max, Dayden, Jaxon, Clover, Emmett Wyatt and Leo; his great grandchild Ashton; his sister Kim House (Todd) of Ft. Madison; and his stepsiblings, Stephanie Shute of Burlington and Scott Shute (Lynda) of Florida.
