He was predeceased by: his parents, John Powell (Jack) and Beverly Powell; his siblings, Kathy Kezar, Jack Powell, Rick Powell and Skip Powell; his cousin Scott Powell; his uncle Jim Powell; his parents-in-law, Cal and Iris Harms; and his sister-in-law Diane Harms.

He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer Schmudlach (Eric) of Jesup, Stephanie Cherry (Nathan) of Jesup and Sarah Brown (Allen) of Rogers; his grandchildren, Emry Schmudlach, Kenley Schmudlach, Kalli Schmudlach, Gavin Cherry, Rylee Cherry, Ryder Cherry, Austin Brown and Justin Brown; and his great grandchild Beaux Brown. He is also survived by his wife, daughters.

Virgil dedicated his life to building a strong foundation for his family.
