She was predeceased by: her parents, Ewald Struck and Rosetta Struck (Sell); her husband Wallace Kappel; her sisters, Arvella McCombs (Sam) and Betty Ackerman; and her half-brother Dick Struck (Diane).
She is survived by: her children, Peggy Essmann (Jeff) of Waterloo, Pamela Peterson (Randy) of Waterloo and Mark Kappel (Melissa) of Waterloo; her brother Rick Ackerman (Cheryl) of Waterloo; and her half-siblings, Duane Rieken (Kristen) of Iowa Falls and Debby Elliot of Waterloo. She is also survived by five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.
