It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Rosalea Theodore Schmelzer of Waterloo, Iowa, born in Gilbertville, Iowa, who passed away on October 4, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Schares and Josephine Arend Schares; her siblings, Norbert Schares (Leona), Louis Schares (Maxine), Jerome Schares (Marie), Kenneth Schares (Marlys), Adam Schares, Henrietta Simons (Fred), Teddy Breyfogle (Howard), Blanche Schmitz (Ben) and Rita Michels (Clement); and her brother-in-law Al Dittmer.
She is survived by: her husband Alfred Schmelzer; her sons, Jeff Schmelzer of Tampa, Fla. and Tim Schmelzer of Manchester; her grandchildren, Jacob Schmelzer and Hanna Schmelzer; her sister Florence Dittmer of Waterloo; and her sister-in-law Arlene Schares of Waterloo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
