He was predeceased by: his parents, Harv Schweitzer and Alice Schweitzer (Beckler); his son Greg Schweitzer; his son-in-law Wade Harrison; and his siblings, Merle Schweitzer, Don Schweitzer, Betty Schweitzer and Berndetta Oldfield.
He is survived by: his son Terry Schweitzer of Waterloo; his stepson Gary Sieben (Vicki) of Waterloo; and his daughter Jackie Peterson (Rich) of Waterloo. He is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Unit at the Iowa Veterans Home.
