She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, DuWayne Schirm and Lillian Schirm (Meyer); her daughter Alison; her husband Steve of Waterloo; her daughters, Stephanie Gomez (Jason) of Waterloo, Megan Tjernagel (Don) of Waterloo and Ali Blake (Andrew Howe) of Waterloo; her grandchildren, Jordyn, Jalynn, Jaryn, Jaynason, Jacyn, Banner and Lane; her sisters, Dixie Dethlefs and Lori Wilken of Waterloo; her pet Lilly Ann; and her siblings, Steve Schirm (Marcia) and Jodi Schirm. She was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; her beloved companion.

Memorials may be directed to the family, where they will donate to a charity that meant something dear to Rita.
