He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Mingus and Nettie Mae Mingus; his former wife Joyce Brunko; and his siblings, Donald, Katherine and Helen.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Tomlinson; his children, Dennis (Diana), John Mingus of Des Moines and Cindy Cox (Tim); his siblings, DeWayne, Doris and Norma; his grandchildren, Crystal Mingus and Chris Neipert; and his great grandchildren, Danica and Dakota.
