She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Emily Day and Malcolm Poyer Price. She is survived by: her husband Howard John Thompson of Cedar Falls; her children, Nancy, John Holmes, Philip Booth of Writer's Workshop, Catherine Rose Thompson (David Malcolm Thompson) and Waterloo; her brother John Day Price (Jan); her nephew Kevin; her daughters, Katherine, Sarah and Lauren; and also, Charlotte Thompson, Derrick Gillikin (Sugaree), Lauren Marie and Andrew John.
Nancy received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and was given writer residencies at the Rockefeller Foundation Center in Italy, the Karolyi Foundation in France, and the Tyrone Guthrie Center in Ireland.
