He is survived by: his sons, Mel Sweerin, Jr. (Melissa) of Waterloo and Al Sweerin (Connie) of Waterloo; his grandsons, Jared (Rachel), Nathan (Melanie), Nick (Peyton Perkins), Andy (Cathleen) and Dan Sweerin (Melissa); his great grandchildren, Judah, Haven, Ellery, Natalie, Clayton, Lily, Hannah, Phineas, Henry and Oliver; his siblings, Edward Sweerin (Barbara), Jim Widner (Brenda), Marlys "Tootie" Murray, Marty Bockholt (Larry), Rolene Whitesell and Marlene Smith; his brother-in-law Larry O'Brien; and his close friends, Thomas "Moose" Wiley and Bob Ebaugh.
