He is survived by: his wife Darlene Metzger of Waterloo; his children, Brenda Hagenow (Randy) of Readlyn and Dean Maurer of Cedar Falls; his grandchildren, Tarissa Ollendieck (Gary) of Fredrika and Garett Hagenow of Readlyn; and his brother Gene Maurer (Carolyn) of Waterville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
