He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Carney and Bertha Carney; and his brothers, Bob, Don and Terry.
He is survived by: his former wife Alyce Benham; his wife Alyce Hussey of Waterloo; his daughters, Deb Lenguadoro (Steve) of Holland, Annie Byford (Dave) of Ackley, Denise Krull of Allison and Lisa Mathis (John) of Mt. Auburn, Iowa; his siblings, Lonnie Carney (Terry) of Atkins, Keith Carney, Allen Carney of California, Betty Miller of Surprise and Patty Rogers of Brandon, Iowa; and his pet Jake. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
