He was predeceased by: his parents, John G. Dowd and Lavada Destival Dowd; his brother Joseph L. Dowd; and his brother-in-law Chris Legeros. He is survived by: his sister Julie Legeros of Seattle; his nieces, Elena Legeros (Shelby) and Anna Fleet (Alex); his great-niece Evangelia Rose; and his great-nephew Thomas Christopher.
