He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Gleason and Irene Gleason; and his brothers, Richard and Frederick Gleason. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Nichols (Spooner); his son Jamie Gleason (Amanda) of Waterloo; his granddaughter Kolena; and his brothers, James Gleason (Julie) of Waterloo, IA and David Gleason (Mary) of Waverly, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
