He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Olivia Ortega; his parents, Jim Sr. Chapin and Mary Chapin; and his sister Susan Damage. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou; his children, Stuart, Ann Thomas (Caine) and Holly Ortega (Chris); and his siblings, Jim Chapin and Mary Eckenrod.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (650 Stephan Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery (3912 W 4th St, Waterloo, IA 50702).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, or Cedar Valley Hospice.
