She was predeceased by: her parents, Phillip Welter and Cecilia Schares Welter; her significant other Tom Summerhays; her siblings, Irma Delagardelle, Bernice Schmitz, Ralph Welter and Leo Welter; and her brothers-in-law, Burt Schmitz, Kenny Schmitz and Whitey Guild.
She is survived by: her children, Tamara Schmit of Evansdale, Scott Fischels of Des Moines and Kurt Fischels (Paula) of Cedar Falls; her grandchildren, Tara Mauer, Kelsey Bass (Derek), Dustin Fischels and Ryan Fischels (Cassandra); her great grandchildren, Madison Mauer, Lake Mauer, Charlotte Fischels, Henlee Bass and Dallas Bass; her siblings, Alma Schmitz of Denver, Margie Guild of Waterloo, Linda Hughes (Jim) of Independence and Lloyd Welter (Shirley); and her siblings-in-law, Marie Jean Welter of Jesup and Leo Delagardelle of Gilbertville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Parkinson's Foundation.
