She was predeceased by: her parents, George Oldenburger and Wilma Frey Oldenburger; her son John William Gilson; her sister-in-law Jeanne Mae Oldenburger; her nephews, Randy Oldenburger and Steven Oldenburger; and her great-niece Nicole Oldenburger.

She is survived by: her husband Johnnie Gilson; her daughter Jody Stratton (Barry) of Hudson; her granddaughter Kaitlin Clark (Jory Pierce) of Lincoln, NE; and her brothers, Darrel Oldenburger of Marion and Duane Oldenburger (Barb) of Waterloo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
