He is survived by: his spouse Patricia Butters; his son Steven Slater (Christine) of Waterloo; his adoptive children, Leanna Nelson (Stacey) of Evansdale and Terry Slater of West Union; his stepson Bob Slater (Mary) of Waterloo; and his siblings, Joyce Halverson (Lewis Eifert) of Waterloo, Warren Slater (Vallerie) of Des Moines, Margaret Stacey (Dan) of Helena and Colleen Krug (Dan). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
