He was predeceased by: his parents, John Tatum and Bernice Knight Tatum. He is survived by: his spouse Betty Lou Sanders; his sons, Chris Tatum (Bonnie) of Waterloo and Steven Tatum (Krysten) of Ashland, NE; his grandchildren, James Tatum, Michael Tatum, Josh Tatum, Matt Tatum and Franklin Tatum; and his siblings, Bill Tatum (Pat) of Waterloo, Bobbie Lawrence (Bill) of Waterloo and Janie Neirstheimer of Arkansas. He is also survived by his parents, and his wife.
