He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Mauer and Elizabeth Adams Mauer; and his siblings, Angie, Roman, Ole, Orville, Art, Dean, Dale, Danny and William Mauer.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Koester; his daughters, Teresa Kajewski (Robert) of Dunkerton, Gail Roeding (Michael) of Waverly and Dawn Olmstead (Randy) of Ankeny; his grandchildren, Nicole Geerts (Travis), Brian Kajewski (Trisha), Jenna Platte (Josh), Laura Beck (Shane), Trey Olmstead, Cade Olmstead and Abbi Gosse (Jared); his great grandchildren, Ella Platte, Laney Platte, Madalynn Platte, Henry Geerts, Boone Kajewski, Alexa Kajewski and Tate Beck; and his brother Darwin Mauer (Marlene) of Denver.
Masks and social distancing are required at both events.
