With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Herlie Johnson Sr. of Waterloo, Iowa, born in Coffeeville, Mississippi, who passed away on February 19, 2023 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Johnson and Clara Phillips; his children, Rose Marie Johnson, Stephanie Ann, Leroy Johnson, Herlie Johnson Jr., William Robertson and Eugene "Ruck" Rucker Sr.; and his siblings, Arthur, Leo of James, Leslie and Shirley "Faye" Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Martin of Waterloo; his sister Katie Lee; his children, Derrick Wortham (Marilyn) of Waterloo, André Johnson (Marliss) of Brooklyn Park, MN, Cornelius Johnson (Kim) of Waterloo, Kelly Martin (Carrie) of Waterloo, Steven Johnson (Paula) of Dallas, TX, Kevin Martin (Vivian) of Las Vegas, NV and Sherry Johnson of Waterloo; his caregiver Sharece Rucker; his grandparent TaNeesa Martin; and his close friends, William "Bill" Judd and Debra "DaBoo" Woolsey. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
