It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Matthews (Waterloo, Iowa), who passed away on January 12, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Helen Matthews to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Fredrick C. Winning and Sophia Winning (Stoffregen); her husband Eugene A. Matthews; her son Owen Matthews; and her siblings, Harold Winning (Pearl), Florence Barnett (Patrick), Arnold Winning, Darlene Hilleshiem (Richard), Raymond Winning, Lawerence Winning and Fredrick Winning.
She is survived by: her sons, Bruce Matthews (Fran) of Reinbeck, Scott Matthews (Renee) of Oelwein and Timothy Matthews of Lawler; and her sisters-in-law, Dolores and Penelope Winning. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Locke Garden View Chapel (3655 Logan Ave, Waterloo, IA 50703). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
