He is survived by: his children, Gary Van Der Hart, Ramona "Mona" Schmidt (Mike) of Waterloo and Cheryl Bird (Gary) of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Steven Van Der (Jonalee), Michael Van Der Hart of Colorado, Holly Williams (Derek) of Waterloo, Stacy Hanson of Waterloo, Ben Hanson of Waterloo, Angie Stephens of Waterloo, Tiffany Luck (Blaine) of Hudson, Shane Bird (Olivia) of Texas and Jeremy Bird of Osage; his great grandchildren, Liam, Hattie Van Der Hart, Gina Schilling, Aidan Williams, Aaliyah Stark, Journee Hanson, Brayden, Dexter, Rosalie Hanson, Brody, Brenden, MaKayla McGrath, Cheyanne Herrera (Juan), Austin Bird, Makenzie Luck, Cole Luck, Collin Luck, Brexton Bird, Veronica Bird and Lennix Bird; his great great grandchild Zy'Air; his brothers, James Van Der (Freda), Raymond Van Der (Arlene) and Clarence Van Der Hart of Glendale, AR; and his sister-in-law Ann Van Der Hart.
