With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edward S. Schares (Waterloo, Iowa), who passed away on September 2, 2022 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Anthony Schares and Anna Nie Schares; his siblings, Robert Schares (Jeanette), Richard Schares (Rosemary "Rosie"), Raymond Schares, Helene Weber, Margaret Schmitz (Mathias "Matt") and Thelma Babinat (John); and his brothers-in-law, John "Jack" Mayer and Paul Newton.
He is survived by: his children, Marilyn Schmitz (Rick) of Waterloo, Monica Bengston (Terry) of Fairbank, Dan Schares (Joyce) of Jesup, Deb Phillips (Rick) of Jesup, Karen Taylor (TJ) of Waterloo, Kathy Even (Dennis) of Gilbertville and Ken Schares (Teresa); and his siblings, LeRoy Schares (Cheryl) of Jesup, Gladys Newton of Las Vegas, Nev, Barbara Mayer of Gilbertville and Anna Fettkether (Keith) of Readlyn. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
