He was predeceased by: his parents, George Earl and Estella May Cusher (Brutzman); his wife Donna Iola Techau; and his siblings, Robert, Jim, Betty Harrison (Cusher) and Nora Jordan (Cusher).

He is survived by: his daughter Cathy Shimp (Bryan) of Webster City; and his granddaughters, Jennifer Shimp of Rochester and Nicole Shimp (Nate Anderson) of Mays Landing.
